Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is my software version?
To view your ProEdgeTrader software version, go to "Help" > "About" in the main navigation of your software.

2. What ports does ProEdgeTrader use?
ProEdgeTrader uses port 9200 for orders and port 9201 for data.

To check if these ports are open on your computer go to "Start" > "Run" and type "cmd" (without quotes) and press "OK". This will open the command prompt window where you will type the following, (without quotes): "telnet prod.openecry 9200" and then press enter on your keyboard.

If you get foreign characters, this verifies communication to port 9200 and means this port is open.  If you get an error message then the firewall is blocking the port.

Note the above instructions are for Windows XP, Telnet needs enabled in Windows Vista and Windows 7. In order to enable and install Telnet in Windows 7, the steps are easy, and similar to procedures to turn on and enable Telnet in Windows Vista:

  • Open Control Panel.
  • Go to Programs or Programs and Features.
  • Click Turn Windows features on or off.
  • In the “Windows Features” dialog box, select (tick) the Telnet Client check box.
  • Click OK.
  • After installation is done, Telnet can be used and called immediately.

3. How does the trailing stop feature work in the ProEdgeTrader?
The trailing stops can be placed on the DOM, chart, or order entry window.
In the example below, this would put in a sell trailing stop. The sell stop would be placed at 1128.00. If the market was at 1130 (would be the ref price) when you place this order and you set factor/delta to 0.50. The market would need to move upward 2 ticks to activate the trailing feature of the stop and will bump the stop up tick for tick set by the factor/delta.ProEdgeTrader Trailing Stop Loss settings1
When the market moved to 1130.50, the stop was modified from 1128 to 1128.50 (Ignore delta value in comments below – delta is set on the order ticket): ProEdgeTrader Trailing Stop Loss settings1
